Vania Fortuna & Islas de la Tierra Firme
Vania Fortuna & Islas de la Tierra Firme is a Mexican ensemble that arises from a question about a possible display of lacustrine identity corresponding to the origins of the Valley of Mexico, where, despite being solid land, there were islands and islets within the boundaries of Lake Texcoco, where the ancient city of Tenochtitlán was founded.
In this ensemble, each element is considered an island—communicating with the others through sound, suggesting an exercise in metonymy between the lake, its islands, the musicians, and the sound. Music made from Mexico City.
